Introduction:
On Sunday, March 3/9/2014, I took a day trip to a small town called Granbury, Texas. I kept hearing about its vibrant downtown and wanted to see for myself. The town is an hour away in the Hood County seat outside of Fort Worth, Texas and on the way to Stephenville, Texas. It’s located right off the Brazos River which they have dammed it up into what is now called the Lake Granbury. The history of this area is significant and rich coinciding with events that impacted Texas History like the Mexican Revolution, Confederate “hold outs” to a hideout for the infamous assassin, John Wilkes Booth (1).

My impression was complete amazement. This little downtown was alive and vibrant on a Sunday, no less. The citizens have kept the buildings in their original state and it is just fascinating. The people in this town are friendly, helpful and welcoming. The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Granbury! That said I met a couple of folks that run little shops in the downtown business district and want to mention them. The photographs do not do justice to the amazing set up and collections of good for sale each store has to offer.
