“By night, Love, tie your heart to mine, and the two together in their sleep will defeat the darkness” ― Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets
A Wooden Door
Drifting about the stars last night in quiet dreams,
I came upon a wooden door with no knob just seams,
But there was a chair set to its side,
where I sat thinking about you and I.
I love everything about you I want you to know,
It’s been like this since before the stars began to glow,
and yes it’s true I’m not from the world beneath the sun,
but the language I speak is genuine, honest and in love.
If maybe the door will open was I to push it in,
but that’s not how it’s done; therefore a soft knock I will send,
and waiting I sit thinking some and much more,
falling asleep to dreams within dreams; awaking to a note on the door.
The note asks…
Do you love me for the man I am?
Will you run away when I’m angry or sad?
So I write “yes” and “no”,
And stuck the note back on the door.
A second thought comes to mind…
and therefore a PS you will also find,
“you are my love, light and precious friend,
angry words are easy to forgive,
where there is only one thing I ask more, that a knob be placed to open this door. ”
