“When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me.” ~ Erma Bombeck
I no longer am a venal or capricious alley cat!
Clambering fence posts; seeking a mid-night snack,
groping trash cans until the break of dawn,
singing “meows”; parting sillage spawned.
I let this go; as twilight turns silver into gold,
now, this does not mean I’m freakish or old,
it’s being an alley cat that I longing bemoan.
Rock hard, sweating, panting,
I made it happen; you see,
all that living between my knees.
Looking back; it’s the choices I made,
and the breathing I did.
If asked why?
I would probably do it all over again.
I opened my eyes into winds that blew,
realizing; I wanted more with the likes of you,
no longer bouncing about from ship to shore.
For wit; I’m, Tom the Alley Cat, no more!
