Introduction:

“In your heart, you have a song that will change the world, once you give yourself permission to sing.”

― Vironika Tugaleva

The song being featured this evening is titled "One of These Night"(2). One of the all time classics sung by the brilliant The Eagles.

"One of These Nights" is the fourth studio album for the Eagles and the song titled the same is the 1st track. Both were released  in 1975.

The Eagles originated out of California with a Country Rock, Folk Rock, Soft Rock and Rock genre. I believe the band is still active.

The video was published on Oct 26, 2017 by
Александр Веселов.

I have listed the lyrics to the song below for your reading pleasure.

"One Of These Nights(3)

One of these nights
One of these crazy old nights
We're gonna find out
Pretty mama
What turns on your lights
The full moon is calling
The fever is high
And the wicked wind whispers
And moans

You got your demons
You got desires
Well, I got a few of my own

Oo, someone to be kind to in
Between the dark and the light
Oo, coming right behind you
Swear I'm gonna find you
One of these nights

One of these dreams
One of these lost and lonely dreams
We're gonna find one
One that really screams

I've been searching for the daughter
Of the devil himself
I've been searching for an angel in white
I've been waiting for a woman who's a little
Of both
And I can feel her but she's nowhere
In sight

Oo, loneliness will blind you
In between the wrong and the right
Oo, coming right behind you
Swear I'm gonna find you
One of these nights

One of these nights
In between the dark and the light
Coming right behind you
Swear I'm gonna find you
Get 'ya baby one of these nights
One of these nights
One of these nights
I can feel it
I can feel it
One of these nights
Coming right behind you
Swear I'm gonna find you now

One of these nights..[etc.]

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week-end and thank you as always for checking out my posts. I pray you’re having a blessed and safe day or evening regardless of where you might be in this world.

― Shaun Hick

I have listed the lyrics to the song below for your reading pleasure.

"Over The Rainbow(3)

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dream you dare to dream
Really do come true

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh
Why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
beyond the rainbow
Why, oh Why can't I?

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week-end and thank you as always for checking out my posts. I pray you’re having a blessed and safe day or evening regardless of where you might be in this world.

"During the Rain" #Poetry w/Leon Russell - A Song For You (1970) #MusicVideo #DianaMarySharpton #INEEDULOV #DanceWMe

Introduction:

“I have always wanted to give you the world, so I started giving you pieces of the oceans that kept us apart.”

Karen Quan

The song being featured this evening is titled "A Song For You"(2). One of the all time classics written by  Leon Russell.

Russell wrote this song for the singer Rita Coolidge, whom he was dating at the time. They met in the late '60s when Russell was one of the top session piano players and Coolidge was getting started as a singer. Russell wrote a song called "Delta Lady" about her that Joe Cocker recorded in 1969. She was again his muse on "A Song For You," which finds him singing about their deep connection when they are alone. It's a very intimate love song that hits hard with a line in the last verse:

I love you in a place where there's no space or time - Coolidge called it "The most beautiful song ever written."

Russell included this song on his first solo album in 1970, but it wasn't released as a single. In 1971, was popularized by two very different singers: the crooner Andy Williams, and the R&B sensation Donny Hathaway (Williams made #82 US with his version). The female singer Jaye P. Morgan also recorded a popular version that year, and the Carpenters made it the title track of their 1972 album.

I think he sings it brilliantly.

The video published on Jul 19, 2010 by jmms429 and Russell's genre is a pop, country, rock, folk, gospel, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, folk rock, blues rock, surf, standards, and Tulsa Sound .

I am adding a little verse titled "During the Rain".

During the Rain

I am nothing without your love
There are no clouds on sunny days
Or whispers of passion during the rain

I cannot breathe
Or think to swim as waves keep crashing in
I am nothing without your love

It's the little things that matter, my love
So don't turn away thinking they don't; because...
I am nothing without your love

I have listed the lyrics to the song below for your reading pleasure.

"A Song For You(3)

I've been so many places in my life and time
I've sung a lot of songs, I've made some bad rhyme
I've acted out my life in stages
With ten thousand people watching
But we're alone now and I'm singin' this song for you

I know your image of me is what I hope to be, baby
I've treated you unkindly but girl can't you see
There's no one more important to me
So darling can't you please see through me
'cause we're alone now and I'm singin' my song for you

You taught me precious secrets of the truth, withholdin'nothin'
You came out in front and I was hiding
Listen to the melody cause my love's in there hiding

I love you in a place where there's no space or time
I love you for my life, 'cause you're a friend of mine
And when my life is over, remember when we were together
We were alone and I was singin' my song for you

I love you in a place where there's no space or time
I've loved you for my life, yes, you're a friend of mine
And when my life is over, remember when we were together
We were alone and I was singin' my song for you, yes
We were alone and I was singin' this song for you, baby
We were alone and I was singin' my song,
Singin' my song, singin' my song, singin' my song
Singin' my song

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week-end and thank you as always for checking out my posts. I pray you’re having a blessed and safe day or evening regardless of where you might be in this world.

My words, my thoughts, my language...

Peace as always

Thinking out Loud

Cartoon (b)
Being smart was key; being careful was critical.Being lucky didn’t hurt.”
― Kate Brady

Background:
On June 28, 2018, I was laid off from the Education industry in the State of Texas. The determining factors announced were the loss in "student enrollments" and then because I was "At Will", I  was advised that I could apply to any open positions within the organization and/or there was always the option of unemployment and food stamps. There it is! This is after fifteen years of service in Education and six months from potential retirement options. The decision to eliminate my position was based on a recommendation from the Department Executive Director.

It is my contention that government is moving towards the "At Will" practices currently enjoyed by the business for profit sector and that is removing older workers be it they can be replaced with cheaper employees to improve the bottom line. Government does not have profit but it does have a bottom line.

Last time I looked it up, the practice is illegal to fire/layoff employees based on age. The age group protected is 40 and above. Government/Education has written policies/guidelines that holds managers to a process in decision making that eliminates age discrimination, when followed, in theory. This is what makes government employment attractive. It "was" a more secure working environment. Hmmmm

Sadly the value that these individuals bring to the table with their vast experience, education and knowledge makes up for their higher salaries irrespective of the industry they work in. I am sure if presented with a choice they would take a salary reductions vs the alternative in loosing everything.

Secondly every predatory organizations known to man is out searching for these unemployed people that are panicked and desperate about their financial future. These folks are more than likely to make bad decisions.

Where is the State of Texas or President? Why are they not protecting this group of people from financial fraud and misrepresentation. Why don't we as a nation place more value on experienced service? What happened to our culture and commitment to the community we service by turning our heads to these impactful eradication practices on families by business and more recently by government?

The Story-Now:

Cartoon (a)
I was invited to a seminar on the pretext that they would assist in resume development, interview coaching and help find that perfect job fit. Well as the saying goes "Never look a gift horse in the mouth" (1) and off I went to the seminar.

Seminar Setting:

The conference room was filled with older individuals, recently laid off, at the top of their career, making $100k plus, (i.e not me) and facing the prospect that no organization wants to hire them because of AGE and salary requirements. I was shocked at the crowd introductions!

Two younger men presented the seminar. One discussed how to look for a job "Job/Resume Hook-Up"and the other discussed a "Financial Hook-Up". The Classic "One-Two" approach.  Find your victim, play on their desperation's and get their money. How did they find me?

Phase ONE: Present the CAKE with Icing based on urgent needs. Looking at the faces around me, a job that sustains current life styles, skill sets, car/house payments and statute are all in play. The presenters advised that they would take the time to learn about each persons needs/focus and align their resumes with a "position description" propitiatory word focus program which would garner higher job interview results. They also offered 500 hundred interview questions, the psychology behind them, and a resume coach for one hour. I believe they search for candidates on LinkedIn because they referenced it so much. Probably when one turns on the "looking for a job" option on their profile. Reminder: Turn this functionality off!

They asked that we provide them a copy of our resume and two links to the most current job applications submitted. The latter portion of this requirement was troubling to me at best. Why would they want this private information? A question came up as why and their explanation was to demonstrate the word focus program. Being a trusting person, I shrugged it off and continued to entertain the presentation. So then we moved into Phase TWO.

Phase TWO: Nail your pigeon. At this point they brought in the meat of the seminar. Part of the requirement was to give them a "Snap-Shot" of our 401k, IRA, and/or any Retirement Financial Instrument. They implied that they could get us financial retirement stability, "if we were interested", when we made the appointment to visit the "Job Resume Coach". WOW!!!  Double WOW that 60% of these desperate people stuck around to move forward.

Thinking out Loud:

Cartoon (c)
The old adage, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" certainly does focus on suspicion, cynicism, and doubt but then one is sixty, unemployed, needs to keep-up an unsustainable lifestyle, and works in a state when "AGE" is not valued.

What do you give up if it is your current retirement plan? That's right, everything.

Next: most employers will see through applicants that lie, provide embellishments, and fictitious experience in order to get a job interview via a doctored up resume.

The state of Texas owes it's citizens a much better representation to avert lifetime crisis's as presented here; however this will probably fall on deaf ears. All we have is a vote please do so come November.

My opinion: be careful. I personally left the seminar "to think it over" and now that I thought it over, I am saying no. I will keep on dealing with the cards that were handed to me. There is no quick fix to anything in life.

PS: To lighten the mood, I am adding some music, it is all about "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees.

Love you Sugar!

A gift horse is a horse that was a gift, quite simply. When given a horse, it would be bad manners to inspect the horse’s mouth to see if it has bad teeth.                    This can be applied as an analogy to any gift: Don’t inspect it to make sure it matches some standard you have, just be grateful and say thank you!

Where does it come from? As with most proverbs the origin is ancient and unknown. We have some clues with this one however. The phrase appears                    in print in English in 1546, as “don’t look a given horse in the mouth”, in John Heywood’s A dialogue conteinyng the nomber in effect of all the                              prouerbes in the Englishe tongue.

"Tenderness" #Poetry w/Otis Redding "Try A Little Tenderness" #MusicVideo #DianaMarySharpton #Try #LovU #INeedU

Introduction:

“lean in to kiss me in all the places where the ache is the most special.”

Sanober Khan

The song being featured this evening is titled "Try A Little Tenderness"(2). One of the most popular versions sung by the brilliant, Otis Redding. It is also the 5th track on his albumn titled "Complete & Unbelievable" which subsequently was released in May 1966.

The video, published on Jan 28, 2015 by Ame Link, is a Memphis soul genre. I am adding a little verse titled "Tenderness".

Tenderness

I missed that song at the doorway of sunrise
So, clouds slowly darken as a day went awry
Was it my turn or did you just forget?
Seems like lately we’ve lost an intercut step

The dance is everything as you well know
Thinking out loud, you, I love; I’ll never let go
All those fluctuations in the “River's” stream
Makes fish crazy enough they want to scream

Hiding from change; not wanting to blink
Be it ridiculous to most; however few might think
Life without a morning song will always be incomplete
Today be it late; yet still in time with tenderness it’s sent

I have listed the lyrics to the song below for your reading pleasure.

"Try A Little Tenderness(4)

Oh, she may be weary
Young girls they do get weary
Wearing that same old shaggy dress, yeah yeah
But when she gets weary
Try a little tenderness, yeah yeah

You know she's waiting
Just anticipating
For things that she'll never, never, never, never possess, yeah yeah
But while she's there waiting, without them
Try a little tenderness (that's all you gotta do)

It's not just sentimental, no, no, no
She has her grief and care, yeah yeah yeah
But the soft words, they are spoke so gentle, yeah
It makes it easier, easier to bear, yeah

You won't regret it, no, no
Some girls they don't forget it
Love is their only happiness, yeah
But it's all so easy
All you gotta do is try, try a little tenderness, yeah
All you gotta do is, man, hold her where you want her

Squeeze her, don't tease her, never leave her
Get to her, try, try
Just try a little tenderness, ooh yeah yeah yeah
You got to know how to love her, man, you'll be surprised, man
You've got to squeeze her, don't tease her, never leave
You've got to hold her and rub her softly
Try a little tenderness, ooh yeah yeah yeah
You've got to rub her gentle man, all you gotta do, no no
You've got to love her, squeeze her, don't tease her
Gotta try nah nah nah, try
Try a little tenderness, yeah, watch her groove
You've gotta to know what to do, man

Take this advice

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week-end and thank you as always for checking out my posts. I pray you’re having a blessed and safe day or evening regardless of where you might be in this world.

Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - Pride And Joy #MySweetThing #MusicVideo #DianaMarySharpton #LovingU

Introduction:

“Laughter is wine for the soul - laughter soft, or loud and deep, tinged through with seriousness - the hilarious declaration made by man that life is worth living.”

Seán O'Casey

The song being featured this evening is titled "Pride and Joy"(2). It was written, recorded and sung by a brilliant Texan, Stevie Ray Vaughan. "Pride and Joy" first shows up in Stevie's first single released in 1982. It is also the 2nd track on his debut albumn titled "Texas Flood" which subsequently was released in June 1983.

Background on Stevie Ray Vaughan:
Born in Dallas, Texas in 1954 and died at the young age of 35 in a helicopter accident. It is a tragic story outlined by Wikipedia below:

On Monday, August 27, 1990, at 12:50 a.m. (CDT), Vaughan and members of Eric Clapton's touring entourage boarded a Bell 206B helicopter (registration N16933) at Alpine Valley Resort in East Troy, Wisconsin, to travel to Midway International Airport in Chicago, after he concluded an all-star encore jam session at Alpine Valley Music Theatre. A return flight was scheduled for later that night, but when the encore finished, Vaughan was eager to return to Chicago and made the decision to leave immediately. The designated helicopter originally had three seats available, but Vaughan ultimately took the last remaining seat. The helicopter crashed into a nearby ski hill shortly after takeoff, about 3,000 feet (914 m) from a golf course.

Vaughan and the four others on board - pilot Jeff Brown, agent Bobby Brooks, bodyguard Nigel Browne, and tour manager Colin Smythe - were all killed. Most fans in the area were unaware of the initial impact, but according to a catering director at the resort, she remembered hearing a boom and felt her trailer shake. The helicopter was identified as being owned by Chicago-based company Omniflight Helicopters. Initial reports of the crash falsely claimed that Clapton had also been killed in the accident.

According to findings from an inquest conducted by the coroner's office in Elkhorn, Vaughan suffered from "massive internal and skull injuries", in addition to severe trauma and rib fractures. The coroner theorized that all five victims were killed instantly, given the severity of their injuries. The bodies were taken to the morgue at Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, where they were kept for relatives and friends to help identify them.

As the subsequent investigation determined, when the aircraft departed, it was operated in foggy weather conditions and visibility was reportedly under two miles, according to a local forecast. The National Transportation Safety Board report stated: "As the third helicopter was departing, it remained at a lower altitude than the others, and the pilot turned southeasterly toward rising terrain. Subsequently, the helicopter crashed on hilly terrain about three-fifths of a mile from the takeoff point." It indicated that the pilot was not qualified to fly the helicopter in foggy weather conditions at night (instrument meteorological conditions). Brown's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records showed that he was qualified to fly by instruments in an airplane, but not in a helicopter. Toxicology tests performed on the victims revealed no traces of drugs or alcohol in their systems.

Vaughan's funeral services were held on August 31, 1990, at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. His body was set in a wooden casket that quickly became adorned with bouquets of flowers, which was carried in a white hearse. An estimated 3,000 mourners were in attendance at the procession. Among attendees at the public ceremony were Jeff Healey, Charlie Sexton, ZZ Top, Colin James, and Buddy Guy. Vaughan was entombed in a grave marker that reads: "Thank you... for all the love you passed our way."(3)

The video was published on Feb 12, 2013 by StevieRayVaughanVevo is an electric blues rock and roll genre. Now that was a mouthful. I love this man's music and highly recommend his albumn.

I have listed the lyrics below for your reading pleasure.

"Pride and Joy" (4)

Well you've heard about love givin' sight to the blind
My baby's lovin' cause the sun to shine
She's my sweet little thing, she's my pride and joy
She's my sweet little baby, I'm her little lover boy

Yeah I love my baby, my heart and soul
Love like ours won't never grow old
She's my sweet little thing, she's my pride and joy
She's my sweet little baby, I'm her little lover boy

Yeah I love my lady, she's long and lean
You mess with her, you'll see a man gettin' mean
She's my sweet little thing, she's my pride and joy
She's my sweet little baby, I'm her little lover boy

Well I love my baby like the finest wine
Stick with her until the end of time
She's my sweet little thing, she's my pride and joy
She's my sweet little baby, I'm her little lover boy

Yeah I love my baby, my heart and soul
Love like ours will never grow old
She's my sweet little thing, she's my pride and joy

She's my sweet little baby, I'm her little lover boy

Martina McBride & Bob Seger - Chances Are #MusicVideo #DianaMarySharpton #Chances #UROnMyWay #LovU

Introduction:

"Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true."

-L. Frank Baum

The song being featured is titled "Chances Are"(2). It is a romantic ballad sung by Bob Seger and Martha McBride for the fabulous movie "Hope Floats". It is the fourth track in the movie sound track albumn titled "Hope Floats" release in 1998.

A little about the movie which I highly recommend:

"Hope Floats is a 1998 American romantic comedy-drama film directed by Forest Whitaker and starring Sandra Bullock, Harry Connick Jr., and Gena Rowlands.

Birdee (Bullock) is an unassuming housewife whose life is disrupted when her husband (Michael Paré) reveals his infidelity to her on a Ricki Lake-style talk show. She and her young daughter Bernice go back home to her mother (Rowlands) and the small town in which she grew up in, where everyone knows of her televised marital collapse. Meanwhile, an old friend of hers, Justin (Connick, Jr.), has entered her life, sparking a romance. While Justin's intentions are clear and good, Birdee struggles with the decision to let him fully into her life." (3)

The video was published on May 8, 2007 by

I have listed the lyrics below for your reading pleasure.

"Chances Are" (4)

(with Martina McBride, from the motion picture "Hope Floats")

Chances are you'll find me
Somewhere on the road tonight
Seems I always end up drivin' by
Ever since I've known you
It just seems you're on my way
All the rules of logic don't apply
I long to see you in the night
Be with you till morning light

I remember clearly
How you looked the night we met
I recall your laughter and your smile
I remember how you made me
Feel so at ease
I remember your grace, your style

And now your all I long to see
You've come to mean so much to me
Chances are I'll see you
Somewhere in my dreams tonight
You'll be smilin' like the night we met
Chances are I'll hold you
And I'll offer all I have
You're the only one I can't forget
Baby your the best I've ever met
And I'll be dreamin' of the future
And hopin' you'll be by my side
And in the morning I'll be longing
For the night
For the night

Chances are I'll see you
Somewhere in my dreams tonight
You'll be smilin' like the night we met
Chances are I'll hold you
And I'll offer all I have
You're the only one I can't forget
Baby your the best I've ever met

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week-end and thank you as always for checking out my posts. I pray you’re having a blessed and safe day or evening regardless of where you might be in this world.

Van Morrison - Reminds me of you #MusicVideo #DianaMarySharpton #Blue4U #LoveOfMyLife

Introduction:

"Blue color is everlastingly appointed by the deity to be a source of delight."

-John Ruskin

The song being featured is titled “Reminds me of you(2), is a romantic ballad written and recorded by Van Morrison.

It is blues in it's highest form and the seventh track in their 1999 album titled "Back On Top". Van Morrison is a brilliant musician. He know how to speak to the music and one of my favorite sounds.

His genre is Blues, R&B, Celtic, folk rock, soft rock. The video was published on May 15, 2015, Dany Fisher.

I have listed the lyrics below for your reading pleasure.

"Reminds Me Of You"(3)

I miss you so much, I can't stand it
Seems like my heart, is breaking in two
My head says no but my soul demands it
Everything I do, reminds me of you

I miss you so much, in this house full of shadows
While the rain keeps pouring down, my window too
When will the pain, recede to the darkness
From whence it has come, and I'm feeling so blue

Ain't goin'down, no more to the well
Sometimes it feels like, I'm going to hell
Sometimes I'm knocking, on your front door
But I don't have nothing, to sell no more

Seems like the spirit, is pushing me onwards
I'm able to see, where I tripped and went wrong
I'll just have to guess, where my soul will find comfort
And I miss you so much, when I'm singing my song

Ain't goin' down, no more to the well
And sometimes it seems, I'm going to hell
You'll find me knocking, on your front door
But I don't have nothing, to sell no more

Seems like my spirit, is pushing me onwards
'Til I'm able to see where, I tripped when I went wrong
I'll just have to guess, where my soul will get comfort
I miss you so much, when I'm singing my song

I miss you so much, I can't stand it
Seems like my heart is breaking in two
My head says no, but my soul demands it
And everything I do, reminds me of you
Everything I do, reminds me of you
Everything I do, reminds me of you

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week-end and thank you as always for checking out my posts. I pray you’re having a blessed and safe day or evening regardless of where you might be in this world.
