Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” ~ Leo Buscaglia

I believe we get caught up in our specific life circles and forget to thank those that have helped us along the way. That brought a "smile" to our face and joy into our heart.

About a year ago, I had the great pleasure and honor of meeting Tammy Cook and we became fast friends. We discussed writing a poem together and her suggested topic was “smiling”. She sent me some thoughts and the poem titled “A Smile” was my humble attempt in putting on paper Tammy’s view of the world. “A Smile” was published over a year ago and later removed from the blog.

A Smile

In the darkest of hours, I still smile,
to life's blessing; there’s no denial.
It is a belief that a smile shared,
is precious and cannot be compared.

A smile given is worth a thousand words.
Received: lifts a heart as wind into flight like birds.
It can be gentle, sensual or simply kind,
as love accepted in the recesses of one’s mind.

A smile is an inward tenderness revealed,
an acknowledgement that you’re; special, real...
If there’s a moment left in this arduous day,
I impart a smile to “ALL” that come my way.

Moments creep past; as stained specks in white wine,
yet it’s essential to smile, paying the details no mind.
So my pledge to you is simple here for sure,
a smile given or received is this souls’ imminent cure.
